Wyelands Bank has revealed that it has opened new regional offices in Cardiff and Leeds.
The specialist bank recently hired two new regional directors who will occupy these offices, with Kelvin Thomas running the Cardiff office and Henry Wheeler based in the Leeds office.
In an exclusive interview with Specialist Banking, Ian Flaxman, managing director of working capital solutions at Wyelands Bank, stated that it intended to open other regional offices, so that it could be closer to its customers and the professional communities that serve them.
“It’s still quite a regional market in terms of the way that professional services and businesses operate.”
He explains that a typical business owner would still prefer to see somebody face to face.
“And that's obviously a lot easier to do if you haven't got to travel halfway across the country."
Ian added that it would like to open an office in the Midlands and the North West in due course.
He believed that the south Wales manufacturing industry was quite vibrant and, therefore, it would be ideal to open an office there.
“[Cardiff is] probably where there is less attention placed than perhaps some of the other English regions by the banks.
“I think we are particularly interested in industrial, manufacturing — again those sort of trading businesses.
“And there's a lot of that stuff [along the] south Wales corridor.”
