Snoop Dogg (pictured above) has become a minor shareholder in Swedish global payment provider and bank Klarna.
The hip-hop artist has become the face of a major campaign called ‘Get Smoooth’ as part of the collaboration.
The campaign is centred around how Klarna’s products are designed to make life smoother and hassle-free for consumers and merchants.
“I’ve been looking for an opportunity to expand my tech investment portfolio to Europe and seeing the way Klarna operates and how they challenge the status quo, I think it’s a match made in heaven,” said Snoop.
“I’m very excited about this partnership.”
Klarna has produced three adverts as part of the deal, all featuring Snoop Dogg.
Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO at Klarna, added: “Snoop is not only a rap legend, but also a successful businessman with a genuine interest in tech, retail and e-commerce.
“He has a great understanding of consumer behaviour and is exceptional when it comes to branding and marketing.
“Teaming up with one of the smooothest [people] alive opens new doors to Klarna as we grow and develop as a company.”
Klarna received its full banking licence by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority in 2017, and is currently passporting this licence into the UK.
The Swedish bank currently works with 100,000 merchants to offer payment solutions across Europe and North America.
