Monzo opens referral scheme to public

Beth Fisher | 07:15 Friday 16th June 2017

Mobile bank Monzo has expanded its internal referral scheme to the whole world as it looks to grow its 101-strong team.

If a Monzo employee refers someone the bank then decides to hire, they will receive a monetary bonus of £500.

This offer has now been opened to the general public, who can refer a friend or colleague to the challenger.

“…Our networks and reach are nowhere near as wide or diverse as that of our 230,000+ strong community — to create the best possible bank for our community we want to represent the diversity of our customer base, and you can help us do this by referring the talented people in your networks,” said Beth Toms, hiring coordinator at Monzo.

“When they submit their application, they should enter your name in the section titled 'How did you hear about this job?' so that if they join our team, we can contact you to thank you with £500.”

Current jobs being advertised at the bank – which launched Android Pay top ups earlier this month – include Android engineer, deputy chief risk officer, financial planning analyst and head of growth.

Monzo recently announced it had signed the Women in Finance Charter in a bid to have no less than 40% female representation on both its executive committee and board by 2020.

The bank's board is currently 38% female.
