Shawbrook Bank has appointed Brook Kalkhoven (pictured above) as an associate director to its structured finance team.
He joins from Australian investment management firm Challenger Limited, where he served as a structured credit analyst.
In his new role, he will look to meet the upturn in enquiries that Shawbrook has received from specialist lenders in the SME, property and consumer marketplace.
He will be managing new enquiries from non-bank specialist finance companies, in addition to structuring funding solutions for existing clients.
Warren Mutch, director for the wholesale team at Shawbrook, said: “We have seen a constant increase in enquiries from specialist lenders in the last year, particularly as businesses diversify to remain competitive and other funding houses become more prescriptive in their lending criteria.
“Our team takes a very different approach.
“We invest the time to evaluate each enquiry thoroughly and if suitable for both parties, we provide a funding package to support the business with both its immediate and future growth aspirations in mind.
“This means we need highly experienced people like Brook, who will use their strong sector knowledge to complete full reviews and deliver all-encompassing solutions for our clients.”
Brook brings experience in fixed income and investments in securitised credit in both Europe and the US to his new role.
Brook added: “I am very excited to have joined such an experienced and ambitious team.
“It is particularly interesting to work with a lender that supports earlier stage finance businesses and looks at the bigger picture when considering the client.
“It can only mean more opportunity for growth in the UK lending market.”
