Triodos Bank UK has reported that total loans increased by 4.6% to £835m during H1 2018.

The bank’s UK balance sheet grew by 5% from £1.14bn to £1.2bn during the same period.

Customer numbers in the UK increased by 3.7% to 52,200, while the total funds entrusted grew by 5.6% to £1.03bn.

Bevis Watts, managing director at Triodos Bank UK (pictured above), said that the launch of its personal current account last year had resulted in continued growth in its customer numbers in the UK.

“It has been reassuring to see the demand for a genuinely sustainable banking alternative.

“Alongside our range of saving and investing options, the new Triodos crowdfunding platform launched in February and has already raised over £18m through eight different projects.

“As we increase our deposits, we can lend more to organisations and projects that are having a positive impact: from charities, community schemes and social housing providers, to organic food and farming, arts centres and renewable energy developments.

“Many people today are feeling disconnected from the values of their bank, but we are offering the chance for people to see their money directed into things that benefit them, their community and society in the long term.”

Triodos Bank recently provided a £7m facility to First Choice Housing Association.
