Bank Leumi (UK) PLC has announced the appointment of Gil Karni (pictured above) as its new CEO.
Gil has joined the Israeli international bank's UK subsidiary from Bank Leumi Romania, which he had led since 2016.
Prior to his CEO role at Bank Leumi Romania, Gil was CEO of the bank's subsidiary in Luxembourg (2011 to 2015).
Between 2009 and 2011, he was responsible for leading the Israeli desk and real estate divisions of Bank Leumi Romania, and from 2008 to 2009 he was one of the founding members of Leumi's Bulgarian branch.
Gil has previously held a number of managerial positions at the bank in Israel, where his career started in 1994.
Gil said he was keen to get started in London.
“Working alongside experts in everything from international trade, property and hi-tech to commodities, hotels and media finance, the UK bank is an exciting posting.
“And, of course, London is where the Leumi story really began.
“I hope to be able to both do justice to the history of the bank, and help [to] do my part to lead it into the future.”
