Monzo has announced the addition of joint accounts to its testing facility Monzo Labs.
Testing is now open to all Monzo users after initially being available to members of staff and a group of users who had accessed it through the app’s sneak peeks feature.
People can now use the feature through Monzo Labs, which is a section in the app.
The mobile bank is working through its ‘Big List’ campaign – which is a rundown of features customers requested before they would switch to Monzo.
Monzo’s joint account interface
The joint account must be set up by two people using a Monzo account, but money can’t be added through topping up with another debit card.
Instead, Monzo recommends adding money to the account through bank transfer or a standing order.
Monzo is still working on adding other features to the joint account service, including current account switching service, shared pots, depositing money before card arrival and overdrafts.
New cards – which should be ready in a few weeks – will be issued with the joint accounts.
