Barclays is set to open Europe's largest fintech accelerator in London next month.

'Rise London' will provide over 500 workspaces for start-up innovators in Shoreditch, as well as a 140-seat auditorium, conferencing facilities and six meeting rooms.

Chancellor of the exchequer Philip Hammond (pictured above) made the announcement at the inaugural International FinTech Conference on 12th April.

“Over the last few months, I have visited Barclay's fintech accelerators in Cape Town and in Mumbai, and seen the impressive successes they are achieving,” Mr Hammond told the audience.

“So, I am delighted to announce today that next month Barclays will open its new flagship.

“This market is growing at a tremendous pace and with hundreds of millions of people worldwide entering the digital financial system every year that growth shows no sign of abating.”

Barclays has existing accelerators in Manchester, New York and Vilnius.

This latest opening will coincide with the launch of a new fintech hub in May at Royal Bank of Scotland's Entrepreneurial Spark business centre near Edinburgh.
